Last year we played our first show with our friend Tyler Sjöström, and within minutes of his set I was so completely entranced by his vocal tone and ability that I knew he was one of the most talented musicians I’ve ever heard live. I don’t say this lightly, I’m a notoriously fickle listener – but if I had to promote one project this year this would be it. Buy Tyler a musical shot of whiskey and help get this album recorded.

Spending the Thanksgiving holiday wondering the Nelson Atkins museum in Kansas City.
Tonight I had the pleasure of joining a great group of local Chicago men and women coming together to support a new Organization The Song In Me. The Song In Me provides collaborative opportunities for children with serious medical conditions and special needs to create and record original songs. When a friend of mine got in touch with me explaining the basis of this organization my heart was already so invested in the concept. Children and young people facing life-limiting diseases often have to approach these challenges with the strength of an adult, through music therapy and ultimately recording their own personal piece these children will have an outlet for all of the emotions that they are experiencing which can be a source of boundless encouragement for them and their families. The Song In Me is in its initial stages of growth and could use all of the connective love and support it can get in helping this idea grow further.

About nine months ago I ventured into learning more about the world of Raw foodism in the Vegan sense and have since become an advocate of healing by way of fresh, whole foods. I have spent time traveling and connecting to a community of passionate friends involved in teaching others about the Raw Foods lifestyle and simply, biodynamic food. I was recently asked to photograph and upcoming project piecing together photographically over one hundred unique Raw Vegan recipes. We accumulated over a thousand photos over the course of several days which are in the process of being developed into an upcoming cookbook. There is certain revelation between the nature of food and artistic realization. I can say with understanding that whole foods nurture brain activity which is the foundation of all productivity. This was a vibrant project to be a part of and I will be curating more personal projects in the future. If you’d like to learn more about incorporating more of a plant based foundation into your lifestyle you can leave a comment below or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org. Get in touch and follow Eva Rawposa on her Facebook page to be updated on the launch date of the cookbook.
Excerpts from a recent dual work and pleasure trip.
Summer storms, afternoons looking over watery views and spending time listening to our friends play music around the city. If you have not yet heard of our friends Santah I recommend listening to their latest, You’re Still a Lover.
Things have been unveiling beautifully in the midwest this Spring into Summer. The trees have grown more lush than I could ever remember them and it seems like people are being more generous with their money and time, fueled by the endorphins that the warmer weather brings. Even the ambitious young gentlemen I noticed on the coffee shop patio who brewed and brought his own iced coffee along with him to the coffee shop (maybe he prefers his own brew). Mostly as the season changes into every day heat I am most inspired to spend time with friends playing music in spaces small and large. Although I’ve already jumped ship and have escaped the crowds of the city and bustling outer suburban landscape for an emptier climate, this is the first year in a long while where I want to return – head into a dive bar and listen to some swooning music overhead.
